LOCAL SIGNAL CONVERTER / 01

Text in. Signal out.

Encode UTF-8 text to Base64 or decode standard Base64 back to text. Everything stays in this tab. No uploads, accounts or saved history.

Ready. Paste text or load the sample.

Encoding ≠ encryption

Base64 is reversible. It does not protect secrets.

Text, with its full character

Accents, emoji and line breaks use UTF-8. Binary files and Base64URL are outside this tool’s scope.

OPERATOR NOTES

Base64, explained.

How do I encode text and decode it again?

Paste text and select Encode to Base64. Select Use output as input, then Decode to text to reverse it. UTF-8 supports accents, emoji and line breaks. Ctrl/Cmd+Enter encodes; add Shift to decode. Empty input produces empty output.

Is my text uploaded, saved or encrypted?

No content is uploaded or stored by this app. Working text stays in tab memory; Clear / reset or reload removes it. No account or conversion permission is needed. Base64 is reversible encoding, not encryption. Copy uses your browser clipboard on an explicit click and may require HTTPS or permission; if denied, copy the selected output manually. Download output requests a local text file; your browser controls saving.

Why does decoding fail, and how can I recover?

Use standard Base64 with required = padding. ASCII spaces, tabs, line feeds, carriage returns and form feeds are ignored. Invalid characters, noncanonical padding bits, Base64URL and bytes that are not UTF-8 text are rejected. Fix the input and try again; the previous successful output stays unchanged. Binary files are unsupported.

How much text can I convert?

Input is limited to 1 MiB (1,048,576 UTF-8 bytes), including whitespace in Base64 input. Shorten larger input and retry. Output can be larger when encoding. Unpaired Unicode surrogates are rejected to avoid silently changing text. A current browser with TextEncoder, TextDecoder, btoa and atob is required.
