BENCH NOTES
Good questions.
Clear answers.
How do I format and explore my JSON?
Paste JSON or open a local UTF-8 .json file. Validation and formatting run after typing; Format JSON also runs immediately. Choose 2 or 4 spaces, or Minify for compact output. Switch to Tree to expand branches and search keys or values. Copy or Download .json exports the complete current result.
Where does my data go, and are permissions needed?
Input and results stay in tab and worker memory. There are no uploads, analytics, accounts or browser storage. Opening a file reads only the file you choose. Copy may require clipboard permission; if blocked, a selectable result appears for manual copying. Downloads happen only when you select Download .json. Clear releases app-held data; reload starts fresh.
What are the limits, and how do I recover from invalid JSON?
Use UTF-8 JSON up to 5 MiB, 128 nesting levels and 100,000 values. Comments and trailing commas are not JSON. Errors show a line and column; Select error line highlights the source line for repair. Your source stays intact and exports are disabled until valid. Code is paged at 300 lines, branches load 200 children at a time, and search displays the first 100 matches. Web Workers are required.
Will formatting change large numbers or duplicate keys?
The formatter preserves original number and string tokens, member order and all duplicate keys. It changes whitespace between tokens only. Duplicate keys are counted and flagged in Tree; other software may keep only the last occurrence. Object paths include a member occurrence suffix so repeated keys remain distinguishable.
