BENCH NOTES

Before you settle in

How do I use the focus and break timer?

Start with 25 minutes of focus and a 5-minute break, or apply whole-minute durations from 1 to 180. Select Start focus. Pause and resume as needed. When time is up, select Start break; the next interval never starts automatically. Only completed focus intervals increase the session count.

Are my settings saved, and are permissions needed?

No permissions are needed. Settings and the completed-focus count stay in tab memory, with no uploads, analytics, accounts or browser storage. Refreshing or closing the page clears the session and restores 25-minute focus and 5-minute break defaults.

Will it alert me in the background or while my device sleeps?

The timer uses an absolute deadline and checks it when you return to the tab. Browsers can delay or suspend callbacks, so timely background or sleep-time alerts are not guaranteed. There is no sound or system notification. A late return completes only the current interval. Closing the tab stops the timer, and changing the device clock may shift the countdown.

How do I correct a duration or restart an interval?

Choose Reset interval to stop and restore the current interval, then edit the minutes and select Apply durations. Use whole numbers from 1 to 180; invalid values leave the timer unchanged. Reset keeps your completed-focus count. Reload the page for a completely fresh session.
