QR Code Generator

How to make and save a QR code in ForgeHub

Enter text or a full URL, choose Standard or Large, then select Generate QR code. Scan-test the result before sharing and select Download PNG to save it. Input is limited to 1,000 UTF-8 bytes. Editing the text or resolution clears the previous output, so generate again after every change.

Open QR Code Generator

Enter the exact message or full URL

In Text or URL, paste the destination or write the message you want someone to receive. For a web destination, include the scheme, as in https://example.com/menu. The app encodes that text without opening the address, checking that the page exists or deciding whether it is safe. Confirm the destination yourself before putting it on a sign.

For a text code, enter a short note such as Workshop entrance, followed by a new line and Use the side door. Spaces and line breaks are preserved, including surrounding spaces when the message contains other text. Remove accidental spaces yourself. Try a sample replaces the input with https://example.com; it does not generate a code automatically.

Check the byte counter before generating

The counter below the input measures UTF-8 bytes, with a maximum of 1,000. That is not a promise of 1,000 characters: international text and emoji can consume more than one byte per character. Watch the counter for your actual message rather than estimating from its visible length.

Empty input and input made only of whitespace are rejected. An incomplete Unicode character is also rejected instead of silently changed. For an oversized message, shorten the text and generate again. Choosing Large changes image resolution; it does not raise the input limit.

Choose the resolution and generate the image

PNG resolution offers Standard at 6 pixels per module and Large at 10 pixels per module. A module is one square unit of the QR pattern. These choices control the size of those squares in the exported image, rather than selecting a fixed image width. The PNG dimensions depend on the encoded pattern as well as your resolution choice.

Select Generate QR code, or press Ctrl+Enter or Command+Enter while in the input. The Signal panel displays the prepared image, its PNG dimensions and file size. Output uses black squares on opaque white, fixed medium error correction and a four-module white border. There are no color, logo or transparent-background controls.

Scan-check and save the prepared PNG

Scan-test the code before printing or sharing, and check it at the size you intend to use. For a URL, confirm that the scanned destination is the one you entered. Keep the white border intact. If scanning fails, the app FAQ suggests trying a shorter message or Large resolution; scanner handling of international text can vary.

Select Download PNG to save the prepared result as qr-code.png. Your browser controls the save behavior. If it opens the image instead, use Open PNG preview and the browser's Save Image option. The generator supplies a static PNG, with no editable destination or scan tracking. To encode another address, create and save another code.

Generate again after edits and save before leaving

Changing either the text or PNG resolution immediately removes the preview and disables its download. Select Generate QR code again to prepare the current version. A failed generation also leaves no previous image available to download. Save a useful result before making changes if you want to keep both versions.

Clear empties the input and output and returns focus to Text or URL. Refreshing or closing the tab clears the work too: there is no saved history or recovery list. Encoding and PNG creation happen in tab memory without uploading the message. Save a result you need before leaving, and remember that anyone who has the downloaded code can read its contents.

Frequently asked questions

Can I change the destination after downloading the QR code?

The downloaded PNG contains the text entered when it was generated. There is no editable destination feature or redirect tracking. Enter the replacement URL, generate again and save a new PNG.

Why did Download PNG become unavailable?

Editing the text or changing the resolution clears the existing output and disables its download. Generate again for the current settings. An invalid input also removes any previous downloadable result.

Does generating a URL code visit the website?

No. The app encodes the URL as text without fetching it. It does not verify that the destination exists or is safe, so check the address yourself before sharing.

Can I restore a code after refreshing the page?

There is no recovery history. Refreshing clears the tab workspace. Keep a downloaded PNG, or retain the original message elsewhere so you can generate it again.
